How to print your Alicarta map poster.
You design the map. We prepare the digital file. Here is how to take it from your account to your wall.
Download the original file.
After purchase, open your Alicarta account and choose Download map. The high-resolution PNG is prepared on your first download and saved for later. Keep this original file for printing.
The studio screenshot and watermarked preview are for viewing your design; use the purchased download for the print.
Match your chosen size.
Order the same paper dimensions you selected in the studio. Ask the printer to preserve the complete image and aspect ratio, rather than crop it to fit a different format.
If the print dialogue offers an automatic fit or crop, check its preview before confirming. A different paper ratio can cut off your border or city name.
Choose a printing service.
A local print shop or an online poster-printing service can print PNG files. Ask whether they accept your chosen size and file format before placing the order.
Matte paper can suit a quiet, gallery-style finish. Paper weight, finish and colour reproduction vary by printer, so ask the service for its recommendations.
Find a frame that fits.
Match the frame to your poster dimensions and account for any mount or passe-partout. The black, white and oak frames in the Alicarta studio are visual previews only.
For large posters or unusual panorama formats, check availability with the frame supplier before ordering your print.
A note on colour
Screens emit light; paper reflects it. Colours on the finished print can differ from those on your display. If colour matching is especially important, ask your printing service about a proof and its colour-management workflow.
